QUICK ANSWER
No academy can honestly give you a “Parsons acceptance rate”. A rate needs two numbers: how many students applied and how many were admitted. Academies publish only the second, and they decide who counts as “their” student. Even Parsons itself does not publish a separate first-year acceptance rate; federal data cover The New School as a whole.
The better question is: which academy shows Parsons results you can check? That means results by year, with scholarship counts, and a clear statement of how each result was confirmed.
Korean families often ask us which academy is “best” for Parsons, and some academies answer with a percentage. Two points are easy to miss. First, Parsons asks applicants to describe AI use in each piece. Second, it asks for process explanations, so a portfolio of finished images alone is not enough. Our Parsons portfolio guide covers how to plan this.

Three things make this record checkable in principle: it covers a stated period, each result was confirmed with the student, and award counts are shown next to every average. It also shows the limits: it is a count of acceptances, not a rate, and RISD’s average is withheld because four awards are too few. You can see the full record on our results page.

Seven Questions to Ask Any Academy
- How many students did you send to Parsons last year, and how many applied? If they cannot give both numbers, any rate is an estimate.
- How is each result confirmed? Ask whether results come from the student directly, from screenshots or from memory.
- Who counts as your student? Ask about minimum enrolment periods and whether short-term clients are included.
- Which Parsons programmes? Fashion, Communication Design and Product Design ask different things of a portfolio.
- How many admits received scholarships, and how large? An average without a count can hide very small samples.
- How do you handle process documentation and AI disclosure? Both are now part of Parsons’ portfolio instructions.
- Who writes the descriptions and essays? The student’s own voice must come through; an academy should coach, not write.
WHAT PARSONS MERIT AID MEANS
The New School says it considers all applicants, including international students, for merit scholarships, with no separate application.
